Challenging the herd mentality

June 17th, 2009

We all expect good stuff to just ‘happen’. But who is going to DO IT?

I have come to the conclusion that very few people DARE. You are only as strong as your team. If you don’t make the effort, we will never achieve anything. We will never become great. It’s not me, it’s not you. It is US. If we don’t pull it together, who will? Do you want to move? Grow? Feel alive? It all comes down to what you put into it. You can stay at the point where you are or you can change your life. It’s your choice to be on this journey. Let’s do great stuff together. Let’s LIVE our purpose. Let’s BELIEVE. Let’s DARE!

But please don’t waste my time by following the herd.

LOVE, Peace and Moooo,
T

There are not enough meaningless words masquerading as inspirational speeches in this world that would convince any self- respecting working human being to spend $30 on a Chinese made salt shaker – even if it did look like a crack pipe.

And if you are going to invest in newspapers ad asking people to visit your blog, make sure its latest “inspiring” entry is not two months old.

A little internal communication is all what someone who just paid a $100 for low-quality shower rail is asking for.

    Overpriced, nouveau riche and ZZZZzzz

    Mr M

You know Musa, it’s a free world to choose where you spend your money and you cannot please everyone - so I cannot really comment on your feelings.

But I agree that I write too seldom on my blog, as I have a big fear to do it each time. Will get better!

I am very interested though why you say that the $100 shower rail is low quality. Bring it back!

    Hey,

I just want to gonratulate you , i love your shop and furniture.

I’m just wondering how a big chain like you don’t have a CRM software, where all customer’s contacts and details are availble , and why do’t you have a loyality program as well, where we can accumalate points or every time we spend a certain amount of money, we got a simple gift or special discount.

We have bought all of our furniture from your shop in Amman - Jordan, and all of our kitchen stuff as well, and our wedding list was in the place as well, and each time they want to deliver something we need to draw a new map.

Other than that, i’m in love with every piece in your shop :)

    Regards,
    Mariam

    Hi Mariam

Good points! We do have a system to handle this, so I will ask our Jordan Store why they do not keep your records.

On the first point, I can only be blunt and tell you I don’t want a point system. It is extremely expensive to maintain - if anything goes wrong you will be very angry that our records do not match. I rather keep a VIP list (each store should) where you can get offers and invites to special events, such as SALE, promotions or anniversaries.

Sorry - I don’t think I get any points from you for that answer.

    Thomas,

Couldn´t say it better my self. Wish that more leader had the guts to say don´t waste my time by following the herd. It really makes the different if every person ask them self shall we bee the follower ore shall we bee the leader in this business. And then act afterward.

Hell, Thomas…. I always respected THE One from afar and, as a senior ‘PR” professional in the Middle East, greatly admired the way you activated your sponsorship of Robbie Williams way back when.

But, you know, I thought: “Here’s just another cool and clever Swede with a public sheen diddling the captured market expats out of their not so hard earned dirhams by putting on a hip image.”

How wrong was I? Anyone who has the balls to have a vision to save the world from PIKEA deserves all respect.

Oh - and your stores look great, too.

    Love, peace and cynicism
