We all expect good stuff to just ‘happen’. But who is going to DO IT?

I have come to the conclusion that very few people DARE. You are only as strong as your team. If you don’t make the effort, we will never achieve anything. We will never become great. It’s not me, it’s not you. It is US. If we don’t pull it together, who will? Do you want to move? Grow? Feel alive? It all comes down to what you put into it. You can stay at the point where you are or you can change your life. It’s your choice to be on this journey. Let’s do great stuff together. Let’s LIVE our purpose. Let’s BELIEVE. Let’s DARE!

But please don’t waste my time by following the herd.

It’s been nice knowing you

I got the following ‘very nice’ comment on one of my posts recently, from a certain ‘John Smith’ (couldn’t you at least have been a little more creative?):

“I want to vomit reading this shit. If only these people knew what a total dickhead you are Thomas. These are not even your words on this blog. You are paying someone to write this for you. DO YOU WONDER WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ALL THOSE LOYAL EMPLOYEES WHO YOU SACKED OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS???”

At first I thought: just ignore it. The guy doesn’t even have the courtesy, or balls, to write his name. Then I came to the conclusion that this is what we all do. We only want to hear the good stuff and go into denial about the bad; the stuff that hurts; that leaves scars; the stuff that doesn’t suit us. So what’s the right thing to do? How do we tell right from wrong in everyday situations?

The guy who wrote this obviously feels hurt, as he believes he was a loyal employee doing a great job. The manager who let him go, evidently believed otherwise – perhaps feeling that he wasn’t loyal or wasn’t doing what he was paid for.

All I can do in situations like these is hope and trust that my managers use all the tools they have to help them make the right decisions.

What is right? What is wrong? The only thing I know is that the truth looks different from every perspective.

Thomas Jefferson wrote on 21 May 1816:
“Never suffer a thought to be harbored in your mind which you would not avow openly. When tempted to do anything in secret, ask yourself if you would do it in public. If you would not, be sure it is wrong.“

John Smith – I can meet you in public and tell you the truth the way I see it. Can you do the same?

It’s all about You. Not!

If I want to feel good, it’s my decision to do so. What others say or how they say it shouldn’t affect me. Because it all boils down to my listening; I have the power to decide what I want to hear.

It’s all about me. Not about the tone of voice someone chooses to use.
It’s all about my feelings, my guilt, my problems, my insecurities.

I have to be more responsible for my feelings.
